My name is Kathleen Paul, and I live in New York City. However, as an archaeology student, I came down to Belize to work with Jaime Awe and excavate. During that time, I fell in love with your hot sauce. I have since started a hot sauce website and would like to purchase a set of your hot sauces. How can I go about ordering one of each type or a gift set of all the varieties.

Thanks,
Kathleen

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am a daily customer at "Market on Millstream". My name is Maria Manna.
Recently, I was in Belize and found a company that makes great pepper products. IE: Sweet Pepper Sauce, Habanero Hot Sauce, Habanero Pepper Jelly. When I saw these products, I immediately thought of my favourite grocery store, "Market on Millstream" and thought to send you their website for you to peruse and perhaps consider carrying their products. They currently have distribution in Eastern Canada, but nothing in the west.
We have purchased their products and we, as organic consumers, found the flavour and quality excellent and would fit with the calibre of "Market".
So I hope you give it some consideration because we were very impressed with their products as we are everyday we shop at "Market on Millstream".
Thank you for your time.

Warm Regards,
Maria Manna

I just returned from working in Belize for the past 6 weeks and had my bottle of Manganero hot sauce break on the flight home... I was very disappointed to say the least! Where in Canada can I get it? My home city has a store called "The Droolin Devil" maybe I could show them your product and get them to sell it. All that the store sells is hot sauce. >p> Thank you.

PS I work in Calla Creek for Derek Holmes as a Canoe and Kayak Instructor for BATSUB

During my university years studying in New Orleans, I had the distinct privilege of meeting Chef Paul Prudhomme while he was Sous Chef at the Chateaubriand Restaurant in the Le Pavillon Hotel on Poydras Street in downtown New Orleans which was located across from the Superdome. This was long before he became famous, but I recognized brilliance within him. I was Assistant Maitre De at the time. Having worked at many other four star restaurants in New Orleans, I immediately recognized Paul's incredible skills and abilities as a chef. We became good friends, and during our time together at the Chateaubriand and later at the Maison Dupuy, Paul spent many hours teaching me the art and secrets of Cajun Cuisine (French Creole). I recognized within him a great ability to blend spices and other ingredients which would extract unique and outstanding, flavorful taste experiences for our customers.

A key skill which enforced his ability to create so many wonderful dishes and dining experiences, was the discipline he enforced in his procedures and in particular , his tremendous discerning palate, which would guide him in the way he blended and added spices and flavors to his foods. Cooking became a hobby of mine under Paul's watchful eye, and I soon found myself re-producing many of his specials for myself and later as Chef at the Hard Rock Café in Belize City.

A few weeks ago I was introduced to the products produced by Wilana Oldham of Hot Mamas. I must say that I was pleasantly startled and amazed that these products had been in the market in Belize and I had not been aware of them, much less had I been enjoying their tremendously unique and outstanding qualities and flavors. Wilana's Manganero immediately became my favorite. What I appreciated most about this uniquely delicious sauce is the fact that it blends habanero pepper flavor in a gentle and subtle way, in which the true flavors of the foods are not overpowered by the pepper, but instead enhanced by its subtlety, while also providing the uniqueness of a slightly sweet mango flavor in an attractive clear homogeneous thin syrup . Her Sweet Pepper Sauce, similarly brings forward the uniqueness of sweet pepper flavor which is not dominated by the over-burn (overkill) of the powerful habanero pepper.

Wilana deserves praise and commendation for her high quality sauces. She obviously also uses her very discerning palate to produce these singularly and uniquely delicious condiments which will certainly enhance any larder and more importantly almost any dish one may choose to place it on. Her recent Scovie (spelling) awards are truly deserving, for her sauces are simply put, truly outstanding.

Congratulations Wilana on your awards, but more importantly on your truly fine products.

My Husband and I recently went on a cruise where we visited Belize; we went on an excursion and tried the Habanero XXHot sauce and LOVED it.... we made the mistake of only buying two bottles and giving one to my brother. We opened the bottle less than a month ago and we've already gone through over 1/3rd of a bottle! This is the best stuff ever and I know I have other family members who would love some too (I won't let them try mine b/c I have to conserve it!!!) We live in North Carolina, how do we get more???

Thanks so much!

Hi there folks,

My grandfather recently introduced me to the most fantastic hot sauces I ever tasted...a great sample collection of most of your Hot Mama's products. I cut my teeth on New Mexico HOT sauces which I remember to be "cool and tasteless" as compared to your Firey XXX Habanero Hot Sauce--it is WONDERFUL. Entirely new to my taste buds are your Sweet Pepper and Manganero Sauces and until you have tasted moose merinated in your BBQ Sauce, you havent lived!   I ran out of the Pepper Jelly before I could try it on my ice cream!!
Keep up the great work...

We recently stopped, in Belize City, while on a cruise and while enjoying your beautiful country and friendly people, I purchased some of your Pepper Jelly. WOW...it is great and would really like to buy some for our family and friends, not to mention myself. I noticed that you have an outlet in California, but we live in Florida ...any distributors in that area? Please let us know as I am down to the last bit of the jelly and have a party coming up...I really want to serve it then.

Thanks in advance for your help....Keep making that good, very good jelly !!!!

Dear Oldham family,

First, let me introduce myself. I'm Rudolf from Holland and i'm a big fan of the Hot Mama sauce product-line. The reason i'm writting you is because i am wondering if i could import an assorted box of this wonderful product. There are no stores in Holland that sell the Hot Mama Sauce and i've ran out of bottles. Maybe i could get some price / shipping information from your company.

I would appreciate the efford.

Hi,

I just recently returned from Belize City and Caye Caulker. Our friends who I met there are sailing by boat and had a bottle of Hot Mama’s Manganero Sauce they purchased in Plancencia and I just fell in love with the hot sauce and used it on everything. I searched a couple stores but all they carried was Marie Sharps. I contacted Bluefield Production, but they won't have it for another 1-2 months. Is there someone else I can order it from or perhaps order it directly from Belize? I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Love your Habenero Jelly. Especially on grilled chicken. A friend said at a BBQ "I've found my new favorite thing". I have to be honest, we were trying to find some Marie Sharp's products when we were leaving Belize in April (our first visit to your beautiful country) and couldn't find any of her jellies. We brought a couple of jars of yours home with us and picked up some M. Sharp's over the internet here and yours is so much better.

Do you know where in the U.S. we can order your jelly or can we order it from you or from vendor in like San Ignacio? I'd prefer to order from you or another business in Belize to hopefully help out the local economy more.

Do you have a price list? Shipping costs?

Review: Hot Mama's Spicy
Manganero Hot Sauce

Manganero Sauce Greetings and Saluations to the HSB and chiliheads worldwide. I am here at school now with a student out. What can I possibly do? Looking around I see Hot Mama's Manganero Sauce and my boredom has now ended!

Initial Thoughts: I have a lot of mixed thoughts right now about this product. I have never tried a product of Hot Mama's. As a true chilihead, I can't really stress how excited I get when I have the chance to try a new product, yet alone a new company! It really gets me that good nervous feeling. I have only tried one mango sauce in the past and it was very good. This was Blair's Q Mango. I used it to glaze chicken wings that were baked since I was cooking for some company and couldn't go to extreme measures. They came out very well and I got great reviews from my friends. However, I wanted to try a mango sauce that I could use as a topping for either a meal or a quick snack. I didn't know how a mango sauce would taste straight out of the bottle. I feel this product will taste good based on the ingredients. However, the size of the bottle is a little overwhelming at 10 oz. and sometimes I think that a bigger product means less of a quality since it allows the company to sell more for less. I hope this is not the case with Hot Mama's. Also I am glad to see that Hot Mama is from Belize. Right now I am thinking that this will be a product that I will enjoy.

Ingredients: Mango Sugar, Select Red Habanero Peppers, and that is all that is listed. (I tried locating more info at their website but am thwarted in my attempts to do so)

Manganero Sauce

Visual: Hot Mama's Manganero comes in a 10 oz. bottle. The color of the sauce inside the bottle is tangy orange. Remember the drink Tang? It looks like a thick version of that. However there are nice ground up red habanero fleshy pieces that are embedded in the solution. Hot Mama didn't go skimpy with the amount that she used either. Seeds are not visible. I am hoping that the habanero flesh gives the sauce some decent heat. The label is black with a yellow oval in the middle of it that contains a pyramid, a mango, a habanero, and some woman wearing a jungle headpiece. It seems a little weird to me but maybe this is Hot Mama's formula; or equation for a great product. Overall the label didn't appeal to me as some of the others I have come across in the past. However, as the old cliche goes that "You can't judge a book by its cover", so we will have to just wait until the Belizean Pyramids are unleashed before making a final decision on this product. On back of the label I am glad to see that there are no preservatives in this product. The back of the label reads, "Add a touch of Belizean Spice with every meal. Selected fresh mangos are used to make this delicious sauce. Can be used on chicken, pork, seafood, beef, and vegetables. As a snack, put Hot Mama's Manganero over a block of cream cheese and serve with chips, crackers, vegetables. etc. Don't hesitate to spice up your life with Hot Mama's Foods!"

Aroma: I give Hot Mama's Manganero a twist and I open the cap and I smell mainly sugar and mango. The mango flavor is quite good but I really don't pick up on the scent of the habanero chili. I am thinking the fruity odor of the mango and the sugar added is just a little too much for the habanero.

I was in the mood for some chicken tonight as I am trying to stay health conscious. I felt that the mango would be a nice addition to the beautifully steamed white chicken over rice! The orange color should just do it right! I decided to heat the mango sauce up a little bit. Personally, I feel that the mango with a little heat always enhances its flavor just a tad. Remember when I mentioned those glazed chicken wings of Blair's Q Mango Heat? That was my first Mango Sauce and I enjoyed it so why not continue with what works, right?

The flavor of the mango, warmed up, really did add a great addition to what really would just be plain ole ordinary tasting chicken and rice. The flavor was just right and the sweetness wasn't overbearing. It was hard to taste the habanero but the heat of the habanero was there. I mean we have to think rationally here. This is a mango sauce, not CaJohns, "The Legend"!! While the heat wasn't overbearing by any means, it was there and quite good for a Mango sauce. To get a little more heat than what came with the product, I decided to sprinkle Blair's Death Rain Nitro onto the chicken 1st. Then I coated the top of it with the Mango Sauce. I just wanted to add a little more heat to it.

**Please be aware that my rating on taste and heat is based solely on the Mango Sauce in a trial run I did before adding the Death Rain Nitro.

Final Thoughts: Hot Mama's Manganero Hot Sauce is definitely worth trying and adding to your collection. The quality is good and the quantity, (10 oz.) is the right bargain for you people who like to get alot of bang for the buck. The sauce is what a mango sauce should be, sweet, but not too sweet, hot but not pepper dominant, and good quality mangos being used. I definitely will dance with Hot Mama again in the future!

Packaging 6/10
Aroma 7/10
Taste 8/10
Appearance 9/10
Heat 5/10
Overall 7.5

I'm a hot sauce maniac, I go through about 3 bottles a week and I went to Belize last year (which I loved!!). In San Ignacio, we stayed at Cahal Pech Resort and all they had was Hot Mama's and I was hooked! I brought several bottles back, but I ran out quickly. They had mostly Marie Sharp's when we went down to Placencia, but I liked the Hot Mama's much better. You need to get a distributor soon, I'm sure you would have a big demand if marketed in the US. Can't wait to get the new supply! Can't wait to get back to Belize again soon.

My fiancé and I are going to Belize for Thanksgiving weekend. He's never been there before and I'm trying to sell him on the yearly trek that Mike & I make and also on semi-retiring there. Anyway, I've already got him hooked on manganero sauce, so we need to get some to bring back if you're going to be around. I don't remember the prices. I'm thinking at least a case, but maybe I want 2 or 3 cases. We love the stuff. Maybe we want to give some as holiday gifts. Let me know what your prices are for your products and at what quantities. Mike wants some hot sauce. We want lots of manganero if you have it. Also, I'm curious about your habanero fudge. If there are restrictions on taking it out of the country, I need to know that also.
